Competitor Interviews – Georgia Wilson

1st Grade III YR / 3rd Grade III overall
Fifteen-year-old Georgia Wilson from Abergele has been involved with Para Dressage since she was 10, having previously tried her hand at show jumping.
“I kept falling off,” said Georgia, who suffers from cerebal palsy. “So we went along to our local RDA centre and that’s where I met my trainer, Tess Chew and she said I should give dressage a go.”
Georgia currently competes two horses; Quality VH (Jack) and Balladeer Kursalite (Scobie) – both of which are ex-eventers.
Quality VH had competed at 3* levelwith Sarah Allwood  and Steven Smith on the Irish National Team, while Balladeer Kursalite had previously been evented by Nina Barbour.
This competition was Georgia’s third International.
“It was okay; it was only our third competition and I was pleased with how it went. The horse just needs to soften a bit and lose some of that tension, but that will come with time.”
Georgia cites competing at Moorsele as her greatest achievement to date when she took 2nd overall and took the red ribbon in Grade III.
So what are Georgia’s ambitions for the future?
“I would love to compete at the 2016 Paralympic Games and WEG. I would also love to get on the world Class programme.”
